Level This course is beginner friendly. You don't need any experience. ULU Yoga mostly teaches beginners how to teach beginners, but in such great detail that even experienced practitioners will still gain deep knowledge and skill. You will receive a variety of dynamic workshops, but you don't do advanced complicated poses.
Aerial Swing / Hammock You will mainly practice with ULU Yoga's own cushioned aerial swing, which allows you to practice at a higher level with greater comfort, precision and safety. It's made with super strong water proof Gortex fabric and has a yoga mat cushion inside, which you can fold or roll up to make different shapes to best accommodate specific poses. You will also have some regular antigravity style hammock classes.
ULU Yoga's style of aerial is rooted in traditional alignment based hatha and vinyasa yoga. We synchronise movement and breathe and go through poses very methodically step by step in great detail. Classes follow a carefully designed sequence, which has been developed over 7 years and is supported with a 100 page book and 20 hour video set.
You will analyze individual poses to learn safe practice, alignment, transitions, sequencing, common mistakes, adjustments, plus beginner and advanced variations. This course also includes online anatomy videos to learn about muscles, bones, fascia and movement as a holistic system.
Aerial Workshops Each day there is a special workshop. Aerial Acro uses swings to suspend flyers to easily achieve acro yoga poses. Restorative Aerial uses physical therapy techniques to decompress the spine and relieve back pain. Aerial Choreography mixes simple acrobatics and dance to create a fun performance. Beach aerial is an epic photoshoot on the cliff.
Teaching Practice Each day you will practice teaching in small groups, plus take turns leading the whole class. You will learn teaching skills, cueing, sequencing and lesson planning. You will design a 75min original class and teach it 1-1 with a partner. Receive detailed feedback and become a confident instructor.
Anatomy & Philosophy Examine the construction of the spine and learn how to treat illness and injury with traction and decompression. Also receive an intro to yoga philosophy and study the origins and development of aerial yoga from ancient to modern times. Receive online modules, which cover these topics in great detail.
