      • Koh Phangan, Thailand is a magical island paradise with over thirty 30 beaches, pristine nature, exotic wildlife, lush green jungle, mountains and waterfalls. It is also famous for numerous yoga and wellness centres, healthy cuisine and bohemian lifestyle. ULU Yoga has two beautiful beachfront locations in Haad Yao and near Thong Sala. Both locations have ocean view yoga shalas and private beaches.


      • Bounty Resort has lush green gardens, swimming pool, delicious restaurant, sea view yoga shala, ocean view accommodation and three beaches. All rooms have free wi-fi, balcony and a private bathroom. Deluxe rooms have a fridge, tv and ocean front balcony. Bungalows have great sea views. Shared rooms have two twin beds.       • Yoga Alliance allows courses to be completed 100% online during the covid-19 pandemic, and 20% online normally. ULU Yoga has YTT every month and over 20 qualified instructors around the world ready to assist you in various languages and time zones.

      • During scheduled course times you may join 100% via live stream as an active member during studio classes, mealtimes, beach yoga, SUP yoga, special events like kirtan and various excursions around beautiful Thailand and Bali. 

      • You will engage in Q&A group discussions during analytics and lectures, work 1-1 with other students during teaching practice and group work, consult with instructors and past graduates privately for personal support. 

      • The entire course is also available via video recordings. You can start your training at any time and take as long as you need to complete it. You will record yourself practicing along with ULU Yoga videos and then review them with the team. 

      • You can also choose among various module options to focus more on a specific style such as hatha, vinyasa or aerial. You can also substitute various electives like ecstatic dance and kirtan with crystals and oils for instance.

      Course Structure

      1. Techniques, Training and Practice

      Guided Practice 

      • Begin each morning with meditation and pranayama while floating in the ULU Yoga swing to calm and clear the mind. Then practice traditional hatha styled aerial yoga to master foundational poses. Then connect breath and movement to create graceful and dynamic aerial vinyasa flows.

      Aerial Aco

      • Use ULU Yoga Swings to support flyers to find correct balance and alignment to easily achieve acro yoga poses. Then take aerial acro fusion to the next level and explore creative acrobatic variations, which look impossible, but with the support of the swing are actually quite simple even for total beginners. 

      Aerial Choreography

      • Practice synchronizing simple aerial sequences in pairs then coordinate as a group to choreograph an artistic performance using UV body paint and neon blacklights. It is a lot of fun, but also hard work physically and learning to work together as a team. ULU Yoga will record your performance to remember forever and amaze your friends back home. 

      Aerial tripod

      • Make a bamboo tripod and do aerial outdoors in nature flying through the jungle and over the ocean. Receive instructions to give event demonstrations and manage crowds safely. In Thailand ULU Yoga has beachfront resort. In Ubud there is a beautiful river, but students can bring the tripod to beach during their free time or after the course.  

      1. Asana Analytics
      • Analytics is one of ULU Yoga’s strongest points. Receive detailed instruction of aerial yoga asanas, based on traditional hatha yoga alignment and vinyasa yoga technique. Learn common mistakes and how to avoid them in order to practice and instruct students safely plus modify for various levels. 

      1. Anatomy
      • Explore the body as a holistic system, the biomechanics of movement and principles of compression and decompression with emphasis on the spine. Demonstrate these principles in action with restorative aerial, which combines physical therapy and massage to relieve pain and aid recovery from injuries.

      1. Philosophy
      • ULU Yoga is sincerely dedicated to sharing the sacred wisdom of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and other ancient and modern texts as a means to attain greater happiness, spiritual liberation and insight into the true nature of reality. ULU Yoga supports you to integrate the ethical principles of the yamas into your daily routine to create an authentic yoga lifestyle.

      1. Teaching Methodology
      • Learn the qualities of a good teacher, different teaching styles, student learning process, communication skills, principles of demonstration, observation, time management, group dynamics, fulfilling individual needs, setting priorities, establishing boundaries, creating personal connections, giving feedback and lesson planning.

      1. Teach Practice / Practicum
      • Teaching practice is one of ULU Yoga’s top strengths. You will practice teaching everyday to gain experience and develop confidence. You will design and teach an original 75 minute class followed by detailed analysis and feedback. You will leave the course ready to go out and teach professionally. Many ULU Yoga graduates get great jobs straight after the training. 

      1. Self Study
      • During the course there is daily self-study, group work and various assignments such as designing original classes and preparing short presentations. Students must also complete some pre-course work. ULU Yoga has online videos to practice before and after the course for pranayama, meditation and foundational poses as well as post course support.


      ULU Yoga

      • Since 2014, ULU Yoga has led over 100 yoga courses in Thailand and Bali. ULU Yoga strives to be creative and unique while still honouring the sacred wisdom of traditional yoga as a means to greater health, happiness and spiritual liberation. We picked the name ULU specifically because it had no meaning in English so we could be free from labels. After starting aerial classes, however, we learned that ULU means owl in Sanskrit and crazy or whirlwind in Arabic! Essentially ULU means to fly around and mix things up, which is exactly what we do. But we also define ULU as Universal Love and Understanding.  


      • ULU Yoga is a 200/300/500-Hr Registered School plus a Continuing Education Provider with Yoga Alliance USA. After successfully completing a course you will receive a Yoga Teacher Training Certificate and become eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher. 50-Hr Aerial TT graduates receive a certification of completion, which Yoga Alliance RYT can log as Additional Teacher Training Hours. 

      Course Materials

      • 50-Hr Aerial TT’s include a detailed course manual with over 50 poses and scripted sequences. 200/300-Hr students receive printed manuals based on Teaching Yoga by Mark Stephens and Hatha Illustrated by Martin Kirk, plus excerpts from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Bhagavad Gita.   


      • This course is open to all levels. Students are recommended to take rest and modify as needed for advanced poses. Before starting the course you should do yoga at least twice a week for a couple months plus practice along with ULU Yoga's online videos. You should also get a medical check-up and have travel health insurance. 


      • The key to ULU Yoga’s success has been open communication. Each week there is a sharing circle to maintain group harmony and ensure your personal and academic needs are met. ULU Yoga sincerely wishes that your time is truly enjoyable and nurturing on all levels to create a holistic experience.

      Cody Gavin Pizer 

      • Cody (South Africa) RYT-500, lead ULU Yoga Trainer. Cody  has been Teaching Yoga Globally for several years, and instructing on multiple Yoga Teacher Trainings as a lead and Senior Instructor.  He has trained in India and Thailand on Multi-style Vinyasa, Yoga, Hatha, Ashtanga and Yin Teacher Trainings, and attended multiple movement, anatomy and mediation workshops throughout Asia.  He has certifications in aerial and SUP yoga. Additionally he has several years experience in Qi Gong, Primal Movement, Contemporary Dance, Calisthenic training and a black belt in Taekwondo. 

      • Cody has taken the role of lead instructor on numerous Yoga Teacher Trainings for over several years. He specializes in Human Anatomy Related to Movement, Yoga, Buddhist and Classic Philosophy, Yoga Asana Analytics and Movement Clinics, Guided meditation and self meditation training, as well as Vinyasa, Aerial, Primal, Restorative and SUP Yoga. He is a long-time meditator, movement artist, vegan and intermittent faster plus has written books on mindfulness, meditation and Flow. 

      • Cody has led multiple mindfulness retreats, mixed movement arts and flow workshops in Bali, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia plus taught at the famous Yoga Barn in Bali and Blue Indigo in Cambodia. Cody has an uninhibited spirit, which directs his life and inspires others to grow beyond themselves. He has a passion for movement and mindfulness which connects disciplines and translates into his holistic approach to classes. Cody feels that it is his life purpose to share his knowledge and inspire others through yoga, movement and philosophy. Guiding his students to discover more about the miracle and magic that is life.

      Shashi Mahler 

      • Shashi (Germany) is lead ULU Aerial Yoga Teacher, E-RYT 500hr Hatha-Yoga and 500hr Aerial Yoga. Shashi stepped on the path of Yoga more than 10 years ago with the passionate studies of western, yogic and buddhist philosophy. Her inexhaustible studies of metaphysical and energetical concepts, explaining the functions of the body and mind guided her to breathing and meditation techniques. Soon she came across the practice of physical yoga and found great emotional and mental relief in her daily practice. 

      • Shashi finished university and went abroad to enjoy silent retreats in nature and monasteries and study with renowned yoga masters. Based on this she created an intuitive restorative Aerial Yoga Style. The heart lead but western minded course shares the great gift of restorative Aerial yoga.  Her aim is to show the compassionate way of self-healing through the opening and acceptance of the body. Her grounded and determined personality together with her lighthearted easy laughter invites each student to more curiosity and depth within. 



      • 200/300-Hr TT Packages include a free traditional 1hr full body massage to love and relax your body and mind. Traditional massage is a healing system offering pain relief and rejuvenation using acupressure and assisted yoga postures to access the fascia and energetic channels.

      Things To Do

      • There are so many incredible beaches to explore. You will love swimming in the turquoise sea and snorkeling with exotic fish. You can also go diving with whale sharks and visit the Angthong National Marine Park. Koh Phangan has great shopping, waterfalls, temples plus numerous yoga and wellness centres for detox and special events like kirtan, ecstatic dance and sound healing at the Dome Sauna. Nearby is Thong Sala town with the bustling Pantip Food Market and Saturday Night Market.

      • ULU Yoga provides aerial swings, yoga mats, printed manuals and drinking water. Buy a SIM card at the airport or 711 for good wi-fi. Most people get a 30 day visa on arrival. Or you can apply for a 2 month visa in advance. You can easily get a 30 day visa extension on Koh Samui for 2,000THB.

      • From Bangkok, fly to Koh Samui Airport (1hr, $100), then take a ferry to Koh Phangan (30min, 400THB), then take a taxi to Bounty Resort (20min, 200THB).

      • A cheaper option is from Bangkok, fly to Surat Thani Airport (1hr, average $40), then take a ferry to Koh Phangan (4.5hrs, 400THB), then take a taxi to Bounty Resort (20min, 200THB).

      • I had the best experience with Ulu! The setting was on an island in Thailand- the resort was right next to the beach, and the weather was beautiful!!! There was a breakfast buffet everyday, which was amazing. And the beach (Haad Yao) was so picturesque. There were several instructors, and they were all amazing and knowledgeable!  I loved how they put an emphasis on safety and how the poses are for each person's body. The course was a lot more intense than I had anticipated- but you learn a lot, and you get a lot of teaching practice. I took the 200hr multi-style course, so I had the pleasure of experiencing SUP yoga (on a paddle-board), acroyoga, aerial yoga, yin, hatha, vinyasa, and even a taste of ashtanga.


      • Every instructor was wonderful, and I truly enjoyed learning from each and every one of them: Vik, Cody, Karen, Edward, Jennie, Minty, and the assistant: Becky. Everyone at both Ulu and Bounty Resort was super kind and helpful. The instructors were very understanding of our situation.  Edward even let me borrow his phone when mine had broken. I would 100% recommend ULU for your yoga teaching program, and I would do the program again in a heartbeat:) I still miss the island and all the people on it!
