Location

  • Koh Phangan, Thailand is a magical paradise with over thirty amazing 30 beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters, pristine nature, exotic wildlife, lush green jungle, mountains and waterfalls. This course takes place at Bounty Resort in Haad Yao, located between three of the most beautiful beaches on Koh Phangan. The resort has lush green gardens, swimming pool, delicious restaurant, sea view yoga shala and private beach.

Accommodation

  • Bounty Resort features Deluxe Rooms with fridge, tv and ocean front balcony. Fan Bungalows have great sea views. Fan Rooms and Standard AC Rooms have partial sea view balconies. Shared Rooms have two twin beds. All rooms have free wi-fi and private bathrooms. There is laundry, motorbike rental, ATM and nearby is 711 convenience store for all your personal needs.

Food

  • Packages include a healthy vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast ranges from fruit smoothie bowls, muesli and yogurt, buckwheat pancakes and omelettes. Lunch and dinner are a combination of Thai, Indian and western food ranging from the traditional Thai curries, including mixed veg, tofu, lentil, chickpea and rice dishes with fresh green salads and tropical fruits. Some meals will feature lectures and discussion. No meals on days off. Deduct $6 for skipped meals.

COURSE STRUCTURE

Guided Practice 

  • Begin each morning with meditation and pranayama while floating in the ULU Yoga swing to calm and clear the mind. Then practice traditional hatha styled aerial yoga to master foundational poses. Then connect breath and movement to create graceful and dynamic aerial vinyasa flows.

Analytics

  • Receive detailed instruction of aerial yoga asanas, based on traditional hatha yoga alignment and vinyasa yoga technique. Learn common mistakes and how to avoid them in order to practice and instruct students safely plus modify for various levels. 

Aerial Aco

  • Use ULU Yoga Swings to support flyers to find correct balance and alignment to easily achieve acro yoga poses. Then take aerial acro fusion to the next level and explore creative acrobatic variations, which look impossible, but with the support of the swing are actually quite simple even for total beginners. 

Aerial Choreography

  • Practice synchronizing simple aerial sequences in pairs then coordinate as a group to choreograph an artistic performance using UV body paint and neon blacklights.

Beach Aerial

  • Learn to make a bamboo tripod and do aerial yoga on the beach flying over the ocean to take amazing pictures. Receive instructions to give event demonstrations and manage crowds safely.

Teaching Methodology

  • Learn the qualities of a good teacher, different teaching styles, communication skills, principles of demonstration, observation, time management, group dynamics, fulfilling individual needs, giving feedback and lesson planning.

Teaching Practice

  • Teaching practice is one of ULU Yoga’s top strengths. You will practice teaching everyday to gain experience and develop confidence. You will design and teach an original 75 minute class followed by detailed analysis and feedback. You will leave the course ready to go out and teach professionally. 

Anatomy

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the structures and principles underlying each movement and of yoga itself. Receive online videos explaining how specific muscles respond to the movements of the joints with biomechanics; how alterations of a pose can enhance or reduce effectiveness; how the spine, breathing, and body position are all fundamentally linked.

Philosophy

  • ULU Yoga is sincerely dedicated to sharing the sacred wisdom of traditional yoga and provides discussion plus online studies to learn about the history of yoga, the 8 limbs, yamas, niyamas, chakras and other essential yoga concepts.

Certificate

  • ULU Yoga is a 200/300/500-hour registered school with Yoga Alliance ID 198078. Upon successfully completing this course you will receive a certification of completion, which Yoga Alliance RYT can log as Additional Teacher Training Hours. This is the highest level of certification and instructors teach all over the world. 

Course Materials

  • Receive a detailed course manual with over 50 poses and scripted sequences. Also receive online videos of full classes plus instruction on anatomy and philosophy. For general yoga studies you can read Teaching Yoga by Mark Stephens and Hatha Illustrated by Martin Kirk.

Saskia Mahler 

  • Saskia Mahler is lead trainer and coordinator at Ulu Yoga. She holds a RYT-500 in Hatha Yoga, 500HR Aerial Yoga and is a Kundalini transmission facilitator. Since 2017 Saskia has led over 100 courses and has deep knowledge of yogic philosophy, energetic systems, holistic healing. 
  • Saskia stepped on the path of Yoga more than 10 years ago with the passionate studies of western, yogic and buddhist philosophy, metaphysical and energetic concepts, breathing and meditation. Soon she came across the practice of physical yoga and found great emotional and mental relief in her daily practice. Saskia studied physics and law at university then went abroad to enjoy silent retreats in nature and monasteries and study with renowned yoga and Buddhist teachers. 
  • Saskia is creator of ULU Yoga’s Restorative Aerial and Sadhana programs, which offer a more holistic approach to teaching by infusing analytics with a deeper journey into energetics and interpersonal communication. Saskia’s aim is to show the compassionate way of self-healing through the opening and acceptance of the body. Her grounded and determined personality together with her lighthearted easy laughter invites each student to more curiosity and depth within. 
  • Saskia appears on the Netflix series Unwell, an expose about abuse in the health industry. Her goal is to raise awareness about the sensitivity and importance of paradigm shift when it comes to spiritual - social dynamics in communities. Her work is a heartfelt approach to more empowerment of the individual position in group settings and the development of confidence in one's own beliefs within the struggle of mental growth.

Cody Gavin Pizer 

  • Cody (South Africa) RYT-500, lead ULU Yoga Trainer. Cody  has been Teaching Yoga Globally for several years, and instructing on multiple Yoga Teacher Trainings as a lead and Senior Instructor.  He has trained in India and Thailand on Multi-style Vinyasa, Yoga, Hatha, Ashtanga and Yin Teacher Trainings, and attended multiple movement, anatomy and mediation workshops throughout Asia.  He has certifications in aerial and SUP yoga. Additionally he has several years experience in Qi Gong, Primal Movement, Contemporary Dance, Calisthenic training and a black belt in Taekwondo. 
  • Cody has taken the role of lead instructor on numerous Yoga Teacher Trainings for over several years. He specializes in Human Anatomy Related to Movement, Yoga, Buddhist and Classic Philosophy, Yoga Asana Analytics and Movement Clinics, Guided meditation and self meditation training, as well as Vinyasa, Aerial, Primal, Restorative and SUP Yoga. He is a long-time meditator, movement artist, vegan and intermittent faster plus has written books on mindfulness, meditation and Flow. 
  • Cody has led multiple mindfulness retreats, mixed movement arts and flow workshops in Bali, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia plus taught at the famous Yoga Barn in Bali and Blue Indigo in Cambodia. Cody has an uninhibited spirit, which directs his life and inspires others to grow beyond themselves. He has a passion for movement and mindfulness which connects disciplines and translates into his holistic approach to classes. Cody feels that it is his life purpose to share his knowledge and inspire others through yoga, movement and philosophy. Guiding his students to discover more about the miracle and magic that is life.

Janaina Mendes

  • Janaina (Brazil) has completed over 1000 hours of Yoga Teacher Training including multiple 200, 300 and 800 hour YTT’s. Other qualifications include Acro Yoga, Aerial Yoga, Thai Massage, Water Therapy and Reiki. She has been travelling around the world and sharing her knowledge of Yoga and body movement practices, either by teaching at studios, hostels, echo villages and healing centres or by volunteering for social projects to help bring the Yoga teachings to those in need. 
  • Janaina’s teachings focus on correct and safe alignment while empowering students to look inwards and expand their perception. With her warm and giving nature, her intention is to create a space where students can develop a deep connection and understanding of themselves through a journey of love and compassion. As she considers every human being unique in their form of expression, her work is dedicated to encourage people to find their authenticity through their chosen practices. 
  • Janaina’s calm, centred energy and teaching style facilitates a powerful depth to her classes. She is passionate about combining different bodily expressions and practices with the awareness and wisdom of Yoga, as she perceives the body as a vehicle for deep revelations and revolutions. She believes there is some form of Yoga for every person, and it is her goal to try and help students find it. Janina’s passion for Yoga and body expression shines through in everything she does.

Manjeet Mathur (online)

  • Manjeet (India) started yoga and self awareness path in 2009.  He completed his 200-Hr, 300-Hr, Yoga Therapy Module 1 & 2 MultiStyle Yoga TT with Parimukti yoga in India.  He also has certifications in Meditation teacher training and Iyengar yoga.

  • Manjeet has taught 3000+ hours in 50 plus yoga and meditation teacher trainings specialising in Hatha yoga, Meditations, Practical Yoga Philosophy, Chakras, Pranayama and more!  He has a very Human approach to Yoga and believes in personalizing practices for everyone. Emotional Awareness and making a light, playful space also are Manjeet's speciality.  

  • His classes can range from discussions on our Shadows (related to parents, money, relationships, life experiences) to singing Mantra circles to Dance Therapy practices to blissed out Asana or Meditation sessions!  Manjeet has led Chakra retreats, Dance Yoga trainings and Yoga Sharing circles & workshops in Bali & India.

  • He has a Calming and Grounded presence which inspires others around him to come back to Simplicity and Ease of living. His highest purpose is to keep creating Space and Peace in his daily life and invite others to also keep choosing their Higher Self, Intuition and Connectedness with all that exists. 

  • Manjeet’s passion for Yoga has led him to becoming the face of a Modern Mystic Yogi - grounded in self practice and also embracing life and the joys it offers. He loves to motivate others through Self reflection, structured and improvised yoga poses and embodying the qualities of eastern heart and western mind balance.

    Kehkashan Nadeem (online)

    • KK (Pakistan) has 20 years of yoga experience. KK’s first yoga training was more than 1,000 hours long over a 6 month period followed by 3 months of volunteer teaching in 2001. Since then she has practiced every single day despite a busy family life with two kids. KK has completed a 500-hour Advanced YTT in Nepal, Hot Yoga TT from Absolute Yoga Academy, Advance Teaching Skills at the Yoga Expert Academy, Aerial Yoga TT at ULU Yoga & Sky Yoga Level 2 TT in Bali. 
    • After training with ULU Yoga KK became famous for bringing aerial yoga to Pakistan and is featured on the radio, TV and magazines. Since then she has led several yoga teacher trainings with ULU Yoga in Thailand and Bali. Since 2001 she has practiced every single day despite a busy family life with two kids. Each year KK attends more trainings to improve her skills in various styles. She thanks yoga for giving her such an amazing meaningful life and thanks her instructors and students for allowing her to share what she loves.
    • KK’s passion for improving oneself through yoga is infectious. She is a master at taking you through the paces, drawing connections between poses, giving you the confidence to try tricky things & get into advanced poses eventually.     • Packages include a free traditional 1hr full body massage to love and relax your body and mind. Traditional massage is a healing system offering pain relief and rejuvenation using acupressure and assisted yoga postures to access the fascia and energetic channels.

    • ULU Yoga provides aerial swings, yoga mats, printed manuals and drinking water. Buy a SIM card at the airport or 711 for good wi-fi. Most people get a 30 day visa on arrival. Or you can apply for a 2 month visa in advance. You can easily get a 30 day visa extension on Koh Samui for 2,000THB.

    • I had the best experience with Ulu! The setting was on an island in Thailand- the resort was right next to the beach, and the weather was beautiful!!! There was a breakfast buffet everyday, which was amazing. And the beach (Haad Yao) was so picturesque. There were several instructors, and they were all amazing and knowledgeable!  I loved how they put an emphasis on safety and how the poses are for each person's body. The course was a lot more intense than I had anticipated- but you learn a lot, and you get a lot of teaching practice. I took the 200hr multi-style course, so I had the pleasure of experiencing SUP yoga (on a paddle-board), acroyoga, aerial yoga, yin, hatha, vinyasa, and even a taste of ashtanga.
    • Every instructor was wonderful, and I truly enjoyed learning from each and every one of them: Vik, Cody, Karen, Edward, Jennie, Minty, and the assistant: Becky. Everyone at both Ulu and Bounty Resort was super kind and helpful. The instructors were very understanding of our situation.  Edward even let me borrow his phone when mine had broken.
